Christmas Boogie!

th8co4mmosHappy Christmas!

We have a cheery song for the Final Assembly. Boogie woogie is a style of piano playing from the 1930s and it uses the 12 bar blues progression.

Have a listen to this old version of Christmas Boogie by Vernon White – it’s a bit different from the one we’re using at school and it has some great piano playing! Click here.

Music Count Us In – Let It Play!

Our next Community Song will be massive! We will be performing this year’s Music Count Us In song, Let It Play! with extra help from student and parent musicians. Choir students have been practising singing in harmony, and Yr 5 and 6 students have learnt to play instrumental parts that fit with the song.

This song was written by 4 school aged students in only 1 day, with the help of Jay Laga’aia and John Foreman. It was inspiring to see how they collaborated to put the words and music together.

If your parent can play along on Friday November 4, ask them to send an email to jan.ruscoe@education.wa.edu.au and I’ll send the music, then we’ll get together for a rehearsal in Week 4.
