Mrs Ruscoe will be on Long Service Leave from May 12 until May 30.
There will be no rehearsals for Recorder Ensemble or Band on May 17 or May 24.
One Big Voice 12 Aug 2016
We have started learning songs for the One Big Voice concert at Perth Arena on the evening of Friday, August 12.
Students will need to show commitment and focus as we prepare for this exciting event, and there will be the opportunity for four of our students to audition for speaking or vocal group solos. Click here to go to the website, where you can download the music and lyrics for the songs.

Wimoweh!
Our next Community Song was made famous in the English speaking world in 1961 by a group called The Tokens. Originally called Mbube, it was first released in 1939 in Zulu language. Here is a fun version of the song – try to sing, “Wheeee!’ in the chorus sometimes, and, “Wimoweh!” another time.
Funga Alafia
Our next Community Song is a song of greeting and welcome from Ghana. The words mean, “With my eyes I greet you, with my words I greet you, with my heart I welcome you, I have nothing up my sleeves.”

gLee Club fun
Our gLee Club has started and the Yr 6 singers have had a great time preparing their songs.
Last week the theme was ‘Pitch Perfect/Pentatonix’ – we even had the lights off with a torch for ‘Flashlight’!

This Time for Africa!
We will be learning about music from Africa this semester, and our first Community Song was the official theme song for the FIFA World Cup when it was held in South Africa in 2010.

‘Junkanoo has begun!’
We are getting ready to go on holiday ! Junkanoo is celebrated in the Bahamas and Jamaica, just after Christmas. It’s a party time because everyone is on holiday. Here are some photos of Room 5 and ECE Red students practising the song.

ASME Recorder Festival
On Tuesday, the Recorder Ensemble participated in the ASME Recorder Festival. Over 100 recorder players joined to make a huge ensemble, playing pieces in 4 part harmony. We were led by John Heyworth, who composed many of the pieces we played. Each school presented an item in the final concert. Here are some oics of Glengarry students playing ‘Big Band Breakdown’.
